- Excellent Design and Performance

- If Apple Made A Vape PenSeriously, the ergonomics of this pen remind me of something Apple would design. Everything is controlled through one button on the bottom. 5 click on/off, 3 click to change voltage, 2 click for pre-heat. An LED ring around that bottom button with 4 different colors to indicate what action is taking place. Fully autodraw function, so no button to deal with. It's just a masterpiece of the pen design. The only critique would be to include a magnetic adapter that is maybe 1-2 millimeters thicker. The only thing that interrupts the aesthetic of the pen is how deep the cartridge fits in the pen. It's not really a huge deal, but it is noticeable when that is really the only aesthetic flaw.
I own this and also the Zeus Ion. The Utillian is my every day carry. - Did Apple Make This?It's like an Apple design engineer came up with this. It's, seriously, the best designed and most ergonomic pen I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot. I'm an old-school vaper of nicotine, from back in the days of eGo pens, so I've used quite a few pen style batteries like this.
All of the controls are centralized in one button on the bottom of the pen. On/Off, voltage setting, and pre-heat are all controlled by a specific number of clicks. There is an LED ring around the base that changes color in correlation with the action on the button. For example, when setting your voltage, 3 clicks will cycle you through green (2.6), yellow (3.0), orange (3.4), and red (3.8). The battery life isn't great at 310 mAh, but it's reasonable, considering the size of the pen.
I love the feel of the pen in the hand. The plastic body is satiny to the touch, but is a very hard and sturdy plastic. The thickness is perfect. It reminds me of a lancero size cigar in the thickness. The recessed chamber for the cart allows a great line from unit to tip, which measures a very nice 5" with the cartridge inserted. Overall, it's just very aesthetically pleasing. As a friend said after picking up my pen out of my car console to look at it, "Damn, that's slick."
The autodraw is perfect. Instant activation and instant deactivation. Initially, I was surprised at the lack of any button, but I have to say that I don't miss it at all. It just works and works well.
I'll wrap this up by saying that I also own the Zeus Ion, which is TVape's #1 pick for 510 batteries. I agree that it deserves that ranking. The quality of it is amazing, and everyone is fascinated with it when they see it. But while it really is a nice unit, I always reach for the Utillian most of the time. I just prefer the feel of it in my hand, and the fact that I don't have to press a button to activate it.
I know this was a little too TL/DR, but if you made it this far, I hope this helped. - This is the one you've been looking for...There are plenty of pens out there and I've tried a bunch. The Utillian 50 is my go to every time. It's priced right, it travels well and it holds a charge for a long time. Love it.
