Ooze Twist Slim Pen 2.0 Review: Budget 510 Battery – Affordable or Cheap?

The Ooze Twist Slim Pen 2.0 is a 510-thread battery that is a direct upgrade from its previous version. This Vaporizer can power most cartridges and 510 threaded attachments for vaporizing concentrates. 

The Ooze Battery seems to be a generic standard pen-style battery designed for the budget consumer. We can only hope the updated version lives up to this. How it works

The Ooze Twist Slim Pen 2.0 works by attaching a compatible cartridge or attachment to the battery using its pulse wave technology, which, in lamens terms, means magnetic attachment. 

The device has a one-button interface that lets you turn it on/off and control the sessions. Here is the step-by-step guide on how to use the Ooze Twist Slim Pen 2.0:

• Step 1: Charge the device fully.
• Step 2: Screw on your pre-filled cartridge.
• Step 3: Press the button 5 Times to power ON.
• Step 4: Choose your temperature setting using the dial at the bottom.
• Step 5: Press the button twice to engage Auto heating. Once to deactivate.
• OR Step 5.5: Hold the Button Down while you take your draw
• Step 6: Inhale From the mouthpiece once the LED light turns solid.

Temperature Flexibility

In this category, we can see one of the more noticeable changes from the previous version to this one. The Ooze Pen 1.0 offered a range from 3.3 to 4.8 Volts; on the other hand, the Ooze Pen 2.0 offers a range from 2.0 to 4.0 Volts. It seems that they chose to lower the range that the device offers to cater to users who preferred more flavourful sessions. While also reducing the risk of burnt coil taste, which was an issue with the previous model.

Generally, lower settings are better for flavor and smoothness, while higher settings are better for potency and cloud production. The temperature settings also affect the battery life and the concentrate or wax consumption, as the higher settings consume more power and concentrate than the lower settings. 

In my opinion, reducing the voltage range was a good decision. However, seeing the maximum voltage increase to 4.2V would have been nice. Cloud chasers who enjoy creating large vape clouds would appreciate this higher maximum temperature, as it is commonly found in “powerful” batteries like the Tronian Rhotron, which also uses the 510 threading.

Manufacturing Quality

The Ooze Twist Slim Pen 2.0 features a standard stainless steel body, which feels quite sturdy considering its price. The unit is not designed to be the highest-performing 510 Threaded Battery out there. Still, it feels heavier than some cheap Chinese vapes that primarily use plastic to cheapen costs. We can deduce that the heating element isn’t anything special since the manufacturers don’t mention anything about it on their website. With that said, it is more than enough for its basic functionality. 

Although the unit does not provide its own USB-C charger, it is compatible, allowing fast and easy charging. Charging times will be quite slow when using the included 510 adapter attachment. We can appreciate that the Ooze Slim Pen allows for passthrough charging, which means you can use the unit while charging.

Portability

This Ooze Battery is like any Vape Pen: easy to carry with you. It’s small and can fit in your pocket, purse, or backpack. However, it’s not very discreet because the cartridge is easily visible. The small size makes it convenient for vaping while moving, but the battery life is not very long, so it may not last for extended outdoor use. A useful feature is its auto-shutoff safety feature that turns off the device after four minutes of not being used, which helps conserve some battery.

In contrast, the Litl Bit, one of the most portable 510 thread batteries on the market, not only offers greater discretion due to its compact design but also comes equipped with a 500 mAh battery. This more substantial battery capacity ensures significantly longer usage times, making it an ideal choice for those who prioritize both portability and battery life, especially considering its budget-friendly price point.

Battery Life

The Ooze Twist Slim Pen 2.0 has a 320 mAh battery that lasts about an hour of continuous use. This battery life is average at best, considering that units like the Zeus Ion last for days with 650 mAh. In terms of daily use, the Ooze Pen might not be enough for some users who vape frequently or for long periods of time.

The Ooze Vape charges to full capacity in about 90 minutes when using a USB-C adapter (Not included) and would take longer with the included 510-style charger. With all that said, we definitely notice the difference in the previous model, which would turn off after 10 minutes of continuous use. It seems they simply made energy use more efficient instead of adding a bigger battery, a good option if maintaining the small form factor is the priority.

Overall Experience

Vape Pens are generally known to be simple devices, especially when designed to be affordable. I think the Ooze Pen did quite well with its update. Ooze definitely made the right decision in lowering the temperature range to provide better overall flavors while mitigating the potential burning taste of concentrates that the 1.0 Version often got slack for. Regarding the 510 batteries segment, it does not compare to something like the Utillian 50, but the overall thought process behind the Ooze’s design is solid.

In terms of the construction, they maintained true to the original form factor and overall design, which I am pleased with. Although I noticed the battery improved, it’s not quite enough to satisfy a seasoned connoisseur. As a connoisseur myself, I wouldn’t recommend this Vape Pen as a daily drive since it lacks power. Instead, I would look at a Vapor Cup, which is compatible with 510-threaded cartridges and provides a more satisfying experience.

Regarding budget portable Vape Pens, the Ooze pen is a contender. However, many Vape Pens provide better features at similar price ranges.
