XLUX ROFFU Preview – A New Contender?

XVape has offered a wide variety of dry herb and wax vaporizers during their time on the market, with the Aria and Vista Mini 2 specifically piquing our interest in the past. With a solid line of products and a Tommy Chong collaboration under their belt, their goal of gaining notoriety in the market is more than clear. With the XLUX line of vaporizers, they’re looking to compete with other top brands of vapes like Zeus and Utillian. 

The ROFFU is the latest offering in this XLUX line of vapes and offers a series of compelling features. Let’s take a first look at this device, and see what we know about the XLUX ROFFU so far!

Aesthetics

The ROFFU features a boxed design, which looks to be pocket-friendly based on photos of the device. The anodized aluminum shell offers a slick brushed metal touch, similar to the PAX, while also providing durability. This design is offered in two colors: Onyx Gray and Air Blue. While the Onyx Gray serves as a more traditional option, the Air Blue is surprisingly nice. It feels like a call to the early 2000’s cell phone era, where devices were often adorned with bold and bright colors. Overall, the design of the XLUX ROFFU is solid all around. 

Important Features

The ROFFU is compatible with both dry herbs and waxes. The Zirconia cooling spiral provides a longer pathway to cool your vapor as you pull as well, similar to the convection helix found in the Utillian 620. The ROFFU features two modes: on-demand mode and session mode, which can be taken advantage of in a variety of scenarios.

XVape has also included two different chambers: a glass chamber for improved flavor and a stainless steel chamber for improved convection. The inclusion of these attachments really helps maximize the benefits of the wide temperature range this device offers. 

The other big feature here is the inclusion of USB-C charging and a replaceable battery. While the USB-C has become the standard for charging, a completely replaceable battery opens up new possibilities in portability. This puts the ROFFU in a very unique position, considering it provides a lot of what Arizer does, in a more portable form factor.

The provided OLED screen and three-button setup are more than adequate for dialing in specific temperatures, and the provided range is a surefire advantage of this device. It manages to stay simple and straightforward, while also providing features that appeal to enthusiasts. 

Rechargeable and Replaceable Battery

USB-C has quickly become adopted as the best option for charging, and XVape is no stranger to that concept. The ROFFU provides USB-C fast charging, with the device being able to get up to full charge from empty in 90 minutes. 

Like mentioned previously, it also provides a rechargeable and removable battery pack. If you’re on the go and your battery is running low, you can simply replace the 18650 battery when needed. The 2600mAh battery is more than good enough for a day’s worth of sessions, but the ability to swap them out opens up a wide range of possibilities. We could see the ROFFU being really big among those who enjoy vaping in the serenity of the wilderness, or those who like taking their vape camping with them. While I’ve seen this on other devices, like the Air Max, the ROFFU has a uniquely low profile and durability. The ability to stash a few pre-charged batteries could serve as a game-changer for users who want to truly take their vape everywhere.

Vapor Quality

We’re expecting great performance in vapor quality from the ROFFU, with its ceramic convection heating and Zirconia cooling spiral working in this device’s favor. It also offers both an on-demand mode and a session mode, giving users a range of options to suit their needs at any given time.  

The available temperatures of this device range from 100 degrees Celsius to 220 degrees celsius, providing the ability to dial in specific temperatures. It also provides a variety of stems to accommodate for the range of temperatures.  Enthusiasts looking for strong terp extraction will also be happy to find a glass herb chamber, which should leave the flavor of your herb unaffected, similar to the glass stem found on a device like the Utillian 421. In practice, this stem paired with the ceramic heating chamber should provide a taste similar to that of the Arizer line of vaporizers. The alternative is the provided stainless steel chamber, which creates stronger convection heating at higher temperatures. 

Final Thoughts

The XLUX ROFFU has the potential to become one of the better commuter vapes on the market, with its replaceable battery system and precise temperature control being rare in smaller devices. While XVape wanted this device to be a luxury entry-level vape, it may end up satisfying a lot of long-time enthusiasts along the way. The wide range of features pairs well with the portability of the device, so needless to say We hope it performs well too! If the vapor quality lives up to the expectations, this device could be a great addition for on-the-go users looking for a slick option to add to the collection.
