Yocan Stix Review – Vaping on the River Stix

Updated: March 26, 2024

The Yocan Stix is an all-new portable vaporizer pen that does oils and e-liquids. With tight seals that provide a leak-proof design along with the ceramic coils used as a heating element, the Yocan Stix looks to provide a convenient vape session while claiming to offer a level of performance that’s comparable with more expensive and complex kits out there.

Before we delve deeper into the Yocan Stix, remember to consult our vape buyer’s guides for crucial factors to consider before finalizing your choice. If you’re venturing into oil pen vapes for the first time, our comprehensive oil pen vape ranking can help you navigate the industry’s top offerings.

One thing that has intrigued many in the vaping community is the introduction of products like the Vapor Cup, which provides a distinct vaporizing experience by allowing users to ‘sip vapor’. It’s a novel approach, blending ease-of-use with high-quality vapor – something that vapers often seek. As we analyze the Yocan Stix, we’ll also highlight where it stands in relation to these innovative solutions.

Review: Yocan Stix

Manufacturing Quality

Despite the small form factor design of the Yocan Stix, it still feels remarkably solid and well put together without the disadvantage of being hefty or too heavy.

Available in 5 color options (namely black, stainless steel, blue, red, and orange) the Yocan Stix doesn’t strive to win any awards in terms of design innovation. Each of the colors looks great regardless, thanks to the finish which feels durable and should stand the test of time.

Each Yocan Stix kit comes with the base of the device which holds the 320mAh internal battery, a ceramic coil, a base connector, and the oil chamber/tank which also functions as the mouthpiece. The Yocan Stix’s  510 thread battery can be easily topped off with the use of the micro USB cable which also comes included with the kit.

The main body of the Yocan Stix is also where you’ll find the singular power button used to activate/deactivate the mod, as well as change temperature modes according to your vaping style or preference. A small LED indicator outlining the firing button lets you know the status of the device with colors corresponding to the current temperature mode the Yocan Stix is currently set to.

The simplicity and compactness of the Yocan Stix resonate with the usability seen in devices like the Vapor Cup, which also prioritizes a hassle-free user experience. The vapor cup additionally offers the advantage of ‘sipping vapor’ – a unique approach to vaporizing that emphasizes smooth, flavorful draws, combining both unique and quality vapor in each session.

Flavor Quality

Thanks to the ceramic coils which are used to vaporize your oils the flavors are nicely preserved and come through very well. However, users that prefer strong big hits from there oil pens usually tend to prefer devices like the CCELL Palm.

One thing to note about how the Yocan Stix vapes are that it’s far from the large airflow designs that e-liquid electronic cigarettes employ.

In contrast, the Yocan Stix vape pen uses a restrictive almost tighter than mouth-to-lung airflow system which results in a very rich, dense vaping experience depending on your chosen settings.

Yocan Stix power control

Power Flexibility

Despite the small size and lack of interface buttons on the Yokan Stix vape pen, it still comes with its fair share of options which allow you to fine-tune your vaping experience.

With the ability to set the temperature of the device to low (red), medium (green), and high temperature (blue), this gives you more control over the density of your vape. Users that want complete temperature control usually tend to prefer units like the Yocan Uni Pro considering the basic power settings available to the Stix battery.

Ease of Use

Thanks to the single button operation of the Yocan Stix, getting the device setup and running is far from rocket science. Simply charge the device up via the micro USB cable to any powered USB port.

As soon as the LED light turns off that means the Yocan Stix is fully charged and ready for vaping. The ceramic coils are also easily removed and replaced with a simple unscrewing of the top cap.

5 clicks on the firing button turn the device on, and another 5 clicks turn it back off. Switching between the low, medium, and high-temperature modes is just as simple with a rapid 3 clicks on the firing button. Don’t worry though, if you still run into issues on how to use the Yocan Stix, the included documentation does a decent job of explaining the finer details of the process.

While the chamber used to house the oils or concentrates you’ll be vaping isn’t the largest, considering the overall size of the Yocan Stix battery, it’s just about perfect. The translucent material also lets you get a good view of the concentrate so you’ll know when you’re running low and need to refill. Users looking for a larger chamber usually tend to prefer units like the Tronian Nutron.

Portability

Probably one of the biggest advantages the Yocan Stix has over its competitors like the PCKT One Plus is the much smaller form factor. Roughly the size of a ballpoint pen, the Yocan Stix fits virtually anywhere, whether it be your purse, pocket, or a tiny compartment in your backpack.

The small size also allows for more discreet vaping sessions, making it a great option as a stealth vape for oils and concentrates.

One minor caveat is the tiny internal 320mAh battery. Based on this alone, it’s pretty clear that the Yocan Stix is definitely a device meant for personal use. The Yocan Stix battery depletes quite quickly and will last only between 6-10 vaping sessions depending on your temperature settings.

It’s difficult to take too many points away from the Yocan Stix vape pen because of this though as while many vape pens can certainly go the distance in terms of vaping duration, many of them are much larger and also much more expensive than the Yocan Stix.

Overall Experience

It’s difficult to dislike the Yocan Stix despite its rather limited power range and battery life. Thanks to its extremely portable size and weight, it’s still a great option for a personal and discreet vape pen.

If you want something extremely simple, with an auto-puff feature and has replaceable pods check out the Kandypens Rubi and if you are looking for a mod style kit to start with we recommend the SMOK Procolor.

Alternatively, if you’re a fan of the form factor of the Stix but want something that comes with a carrying case out of the box, other Yocan vaporizers such as the Linx Hermes 3 offers much of the same performance  and size you’re looking for.

Want the water cooled performance of a dab rig but dont want to deal with a torch and banger setup? The Dab cap works for your favorite vape pen and lets you enjoy smooth and cool filtered hits without all the hassle!
