Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen – I’m being super Sirius!

Updated: January 8, 2024

Pulsar is an emerging manufacturer that is known for its quality products at shockingly low prices. We previously had the privilege of trying out their Pulsar Apx 2 Dry Herband Pulsar APX Wax units, which both impressed us with their performance and size, especially for the price of each unit.

Today we will be looking at one of their wax pens, the Pulsar Sirius + which features a donut-shaped atomizer and a built in silicone lines stash container for your concentrates.  So let’s jump right in and see if Pulsar has another sleeper hit on their hands.

Review: Pulsar Sirius+

Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen

How Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen Works

How it Works

The Pulsar Sirius, like most wax pens, is fairly easy to operate. Simply remove the glass mouthpiece to expose the heating chamber and using the included applicator to place your concentrates at the bottom of the heating chamber.

Place the mouthpiece back on the top of the unit and turn it on by pressing the power button 5 times within 2 to 3 seconds. The button will flash green to let you know the device is on. Now you are ready to start taking draws from the Sirius +, simply press down on the power button and take slow smooth draws to enjoy your vapor.

Temperature Flexibility Of Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen

Temperature Flexibility

This unit features a fixed temperature and therefore has no temperature control. As previously mentioned to achieve higher temperature you have to hold the power button down for a longer duration.

However, this is not recommended as it will result in diminished flavors and staining of the ceramic. We would have liked to see some form of temperature control to add some customization to your session like offered in the Utillian 5 (V3).

Vapor Quality Of Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen

Vapor Quality

The vapor quality from the Sirius + was decent, just don’t expect to be blowing huge clouds. This is due to the nature of the heating element which substitutes a ceramic donut for the exposed coils seen on other wax pen units like the Kandypens Galaxy.

Because of this heat is distributed more evenly but does not get as hot as the exposed coil. This leads to increased flavor of your concentrates but less visible vapor. If visible vapor is really something you are looking for be sure to check out Pulsar’s APX Wax unit, it has 3 coils for maximum cloud production.

The Sirius on the other hand is more of a sipping unit, you will be able to get several nice flavorful draws throughout your session. The unit does heat up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit if you aggressively hold down the power button for a longer duration but we found our concentrates just seemed to char and blacken the ceramic when we did this and the flavor was severely diminished.  So we recommend shorter draws to maximize flavor.

Manufacturing Quality Of Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen

Manufacturing Quality

Like the other Pulsar units we have seen, the manufacturing quality of the Sirius seems adequate. There were no visible defects with the unit we received and everything worked as intended. There is a fair amount of light bleed from the green power light which tends to also illuminate the USB port, but this is a minor gripe.

We loved the inclusion of a silicone wax jar built into the bottom of the unit which is easily opened with a twist. We love the idea of being able to store our wax within the same device we will be using it with. The glass mouthpiece does a good job delivering tasty vapor but we do wish they considered a different material like offered by the Source Orb 4 Premium Kit that has a magnetic mouthpiece instead. Glass units tend to be more fragile, especially if its something you will be constantly carrying around.

If the glass mouthpiece breaks the rest of the unit will be rendered useless so you will have to make sure you are careful with this unit. But overall it is very well designed and is as nice to use as it is to look at.

Battery Life Of Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen

Battery Life

The battery on the Sirius + appears to be the same battery found on the EGO one. Because the battery is slightly larger than its slimmer pen shaped counterparts it lasts significantly longer than most pen vapes. We went several days of moderate use without having to recharge our unit.

Our one complaint is the unit does not have a dedicated battery indicator so you are never quite sure where your charge is at and have to guess when to plug it in, unless you are met with a blinking red light, in which case you know you need to charge your unit.

Charging the Sirius + is very easy as it uses a standard micro usb charge cable and takes around 2 hours to fully charge. Overall the battery life on this unit from testing appears to be above average giving users countless puffs of tasty vapor.

Portability Of Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen

Portability

This device is a very portable wax pen and the built in concentrate container only increases its convenience when on the go. Because the device is shaped similarly to a pen vape, just a little larger, it can easily be transported in a pocket or purse.

We fear that the glass mouthpiece may be the one factor that hinders this units portability. Glass as we all know by now is very fragile and cannot withstand much bumps or drops. So our fear is that the glass has the potential to break in transportation if not properly cared for which would render the unit obsolete.

While we do enjoy the lack of influence on flavor that the glass mouthpiece provides but we see this being the first thing to break on the unit, especially when taken out and about. Users that tend to have a higher tendency to accidentally break things usually prefer units that are less fragile like the Source Orb 4 Signature Kit

Ease Use Of Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen

Ease of Use

The Sirius + was definitely designed with simplicity in mind to provide a hassle free wax experience. It has a ceramic donut design somewhat similar to Utillian 2 Wax Pen and is much easier to load than coiled units, you do not have to worry about damaging the element as you apply your concentrates.

You also don’t have to worry about placing your concentrate in the “perfect spot” like you do with coiled units. Just make sure the concentrate is placed anywhere at the bottom of the chamber.

The device operates with one button and has a fixed temperature which streamlines the vaporizing process. Just unlock the unit with 5 presses on the power button, load you unit, press and hold the power button and inhale. It really cannot get much easier than that.

Overall Experience Of Pulsar Sirius Plus Wax Pen

Overall Experience

Overall the Sirius + is a decent pen for concentrate connoisseurs. It has an above average battery life and provides flavorful vapor. We do question the overall portability and durability when it comes to the glass mouthpiece which has the potential of being broken.

We did enjoy the convenience of the built in concentrate container. While the unit does only have 1 heat setting, holding the power button for extended periods of time will increase the overall temperature but will diminish the flavor of your concentrates.

Just don’t expect to be blowing big clouds with this pen, it is geared towards a more flavorful experience. If you are looking for a pen that will produce more vapor we suggest checking out the Tourist 2-in-1. If you are looking for a unit that is similar to the Pulsar Sirius but more the size of an actual pen we highly suggest checking out the Linx Blaze Kit which offers a coiless ace atomizer for convenient loading and great flavor.
