Review: Pulsar APX Volt
How it Works
The APX volt is pretty straightforward to use. Check out our Pulsar APX Volt Video Tutorial to easily understand how to use it!
After removing the glass mouthpiece from the APX Volt vape, simple load a rice grain sized amount of your wax material into the chamber. Replace the mouthpiece and hit the button 5 times to turn the device on. From there, adjust the voltage to your desired setting by double-clicking the button and using the built-in display to guide you and away you go! Hold down the button to engage the heating element and behind to inhale after a few seconds.
Temperature Flexibility
With 4 settings to choose from on the APX Volt vape, youre given a pretty solid range to help you get the perfect session in. With 2.5v, 2.8v, 3.2v and 3.7v as the available options, you can go from smooth and light yet very flavorful vapor all the way to powerful and lung-busting rips.
While we like the versatility of the APX Volt, we still prefer fully adjustable temperature control to really help dial in the ideal setting.
Vapor Quality
The APX Volt vape definitely puts out good clouds, especially on the higher voltage settings. The lower settings are awesome for really tasting and getting a feel for the strain youre vaping on, especially with the clean flavor from the glass mouthpiece.
The relatively short vapor path does make the vapor a hit harsh on the lungs, especially at higher temperatures too. Compared to other units at its price point, it does well however it doesnt leave us blown away.
Manufacturing Quality
The original APX Wax left us satisfied, and the new APX Volt definitely brings improvements all across the board. The display is nice and function, the brushed aluminum body is elegant yet sturdy and the glass mouthpiece doesnt feel too fragile. Overall, its built pretty well and we have no complaints.
Included in the box is a pretty barebones kit. With the device itself, a dab tool, and silicone jar, were not really bothered by it too much. You get what you need! Other wax device options like the Tronian Gammatron offer features catered toward user feedback and well-built systems to make your wax sessions easier by including these tools into the build itself.
Battery Life
With an internal 1100mAh battery, you get a good amount of juice to play around with before needing to charge. The peace of mind is definitely worth it if you like to have multiple sessions throughout the day or night.
While the battery itself isnt replaceable, its not a total deal-breaker. Still, keep that in mind if you dont want to be left with a pricey paperweight a few years down the line.
Portability
The APX Volt hides away almost entirely in the hand and fits comfortably in any pocket or bag. The glass mouthpiece itself is a bit fragile and demands some attention and care, however, youre not overly concerned about it.
Though its not as portable and hidden as most wax pen vapes, itll definitely do just fine.
Ease of Use
The APX Wax is very straightforward to use and definitely a good choice for beginners. No complicated draw technique, no special loading method and an easy to navigate menu, a few sessions will leave you having practically mastered it.
Cleaning is also exceptionally easy, courtesy of the glass and quartz pieces. The mouthpiece can be soaked in some isopropyl alcohol while a cotton swap dipped in iso will clean up any residue and grime left over on the atomizer.
Discreetness
Shaped to look like your average e-juice box mod, most people wont bat an eye if they see you taking a hit from it.
Of course, the resulting odor may arise some suspicious, however, the APX Volt is pretty inconspicuous compared to other units.
Overall Experience
We enjoyed the APX Wax pretty well and we found the APX Volt to be a handy upgrade across the board. The quartz atomizer and glass mouthpiece deliver nice, flavorful vapor and the stealthy aesthetic makes it easy to be mistaken as a normal box mod. Its a pretty well-rounded unit and we dont really have any problems with it at all!
For the price, its a solid little unit. If youre looking to get the most powerful hits possible from a 510-threaded device, check out the Saionara atomizer. If youre looking for a stealthy, heavy-hitter, check out the Source Orb 4 instead!
