Review: PCKT One Plus

PCKT One Plus Review

Manufacturing Quality

The original PCKT one was pretty solid and the One Plus doesn’t seem too different. This newer model has a widened cartridge area, which can accommodate bigger cartridges up to 11.5mm like the CCell TH2 series and similar. Some users prefer units like the Tronian Nutron that have cartridges up to 13.5 mm. It also works with top and bottom airflow carts. The smooth rubberized coating feels a bit cheap and the device carries a bit of heft to it, which for a device this small could be improved. The new button placement is questionable and feels out of place, we would half liked it placed in an area where your thumbs or fingers already rest.

Included in the box is a simple but inclusive kit consisting of the device itself, one tall and one short PCKT magnetic adapter, one USB cable, a warranty card, and a user manual. You don’t really need much more to get started with oil vaporizers so we have no complaints here.

Power Flexibility

Similar to the TOQi 510, the PCKT One Plus has three power settings to choose from. Using an RCKT chip to detect which cartridge you’ve inserted, it’ll automatically adjust its power output to give you the best experience. This is ideal for those who like to mix and match their cartridges without getting inconsistent results.

The PCKT One Plus runs at 3.7, 4.3, and 5.1 watts for anyone interested, though it will change some values around based on the resistance of the cartridge inserted.

To add to that, the One Plus also grants you the ability to pre-heat your oil. From cold, the hits aren’t anything groundbreaking, however, when using that pre-heat function you can get some milky, really powerful hits. While most batteries don’t even have any power flexibility at all, the versatility with the pre-heat and cold draws will be sufficient for most.

Battery Life

660mAh is quite solid and up there with some of the bigger batteries without being cumbersome. The 510 thread battery will top up in roughly 45 minutes to an hour charged via MicroUSB. 660mAh is enough juice for multiple hits over a few days even and should be more than enough for even heavy users to last a whole day. Some users that prefer larger batteries usually devices like the Smok Micare.

Portability

It’s a pretty small device for sure! However, among units like the Vessel cartridge battery and Yocan Hive 2.0, the device is a bit large. You’ll certainly feel the weight and device in your pocket.

The recessed oil cartridge slot gives the cartridge good protection, not to mention any cartridge you use will mostly be self-contained, reducing the risk of a dreaded shattered cartridge.

Ease of Use

Wax pens and oil vaporizers are quite simple to use and the One Plus follows that trend.

Five clicks of the button to turn it on, three to switch between power settings, and either hold the button or inhale to activate the heating element. All pretty straightforward and even first timers will have no problem at all getting quality results.

Our biggest complaint is the placement of the power button which is a bit out of place unlike other devices such as the Linx Hermes 3.

Overall Experience

It’s a pretty decent device, though its price point is a bit above the usual competition such as the CCELL 510 thread battery and there are certainly areas for improvement.

The hits are averagely sized without pre-heating the oil, and definitely packs a punch when the oil has warmed up. That battery life is certainly decent for heavy users but the button placement needs some serious reconsideration.

If you are not a fan of the shape and would rather something shaped more inconspicuously like a pen, then check out the Vessel cartridge battery which we cover in our Vessel 510 battery review.
