Puffco is a well-known company that has been innovating and improving the concentrate vaporizing experience for years. The Peak Pro is a complete overhaul of the original Peak with new features, design, and performance, making it one of the better E Rigs on the market today.
The new Upgraded Peak Pro introduces new features that make your sessions simple yet customizable, including a high-performing 3D Heating Chamber that heats on the sides. It does not heat on the bottom plate like on the Utillian 8, but it features an all-new software for precise real-time temperature control.

How it Works
As with any device, we recommend charging the Puffco Peak Pro fully before your first use. With the new Peak Pro, Puffco has updated its software for users to customize their experience further, making the operation versatile.
To get a session going:
1- Load Your Wax into the 3D Heating Element
2- Fill your Glass with water just above the air holes.
3- Power on by holding down the main button
4- Set your heating temperature by clicking the button once to cycle through each heating setting indicated by the LED color.
5- Start the heating cycle by double-clicking the button
6- Inhale through the top of the glass and use the Joystick attachment to move the concentrate through your chamber.
Now, let’s quickly talk about the app. There are many features in the new updated software, including the ability to set dozens of custom temperature settings and colors, which is nice if you want that option.
Temperature Flexibility
It would seem to us that Puffco is really inclining users to use the app since the app controls outshine its out-of-the-box flexibility. The Peak Pro offers four built-in temperature settings that go like this:
- Blue– Low
- Green – Medium
- Red – High
- White – Peak
These temperatures span a good range, but the Peak Pro app also allows you to customize each setting more precisely. The app is capable of showing you the real-time temperature of your heating element and provides a one-degree temperature control dial which you can save as different presets for your next session.
All in all, your Puffco Peak Pro experience can be customized whether you use the app or not, but we recommend looking into the app if you want to control your sessions fully. For those that will use the device without the app, keep in mind that lower temperatures will result in thinner, more flavorful vapor. Higher temperatures, however, produce larger amounts of thick vapor with less overall flavor.
Vapor Quality
The vapor quality of the New Puffco Peak Pro is very good and is only rivaled by the Carta 2, thanks to its 3D atomizer. The Peak Pro can handle more concentrate than the original Peak, as the bowl is about 40% larger. It’s hard to say why Puffco considers this atomizer a fully 3D Heating chamber since only the walls heat up. However, the New Puffco Peak Pro performs amazingly, which is no surprise since Puffco is one of the pioneers of this space and is well-calibrated for optimal vapor.
The original Peak had a distinct issue with large amounts of Wax and the chamber breaking prematurely, but the New Peak Pro has no trouble with the new Chamber. The addition of a new joystick cap allows for directional airflow, meaning the vapor is more disturbed, resulting in fewer hot spots and an even distribution of heat. The vapor at lower temperatures is nice, flavorful, and potent. In our testing, the max temp of the Puffco Peak Pro does get a little harsh, but the water filtration offsets this and results in some potent, relatively tasty vapor.
As far as E Rigs go, the Puffco Peak Pro is definitely in the top category regarding quality, but for a full ranking where we also consider price, we recommend you check out the Top Electronic Dab Rig ranking.
Manufacturing Quality
The New Puffco Peak Pro has addressed all of the shortcomings of the OG Peak and delivered a high-quality product that just might be worth the hefty price tag. The only other Electronic Dab Rig that matches in quality is the Utillian 8, but overall, the new Puffco Peak stands out in the ultra-premium top end with its price and craftsmanship.
The matte finish looks slicker and doesn’t hold onto fingerprints, which is excellent. The glass is more tapered and slightly longer, which enables it to hold more water than its predecessor and not splash that water back into your mouth – a huge plus. And they’ve made it backward compatible with the original Peak glass – so don’t fear if you bought a cool custom glass piece for your original Peak.
Cleaning and maintaining is simple, to clean your chamber, simply let it soak in a purify solution for a few minutes. The glass can also be cleaned with a solution or alcohol and rinsed with water; just remember to let them dry off before use. Battery Life
The Peak Pro should last you about 40 sessions before needing a recharge. Puffco has addressed the main complaint with the original Peak, the micro USB charging.
The 2023 New Puffco Peak Pro has a USB C port that will recharge your device in 2 hours using fast charging technology. This E Rig is also compatible with wireless charging, a feature only obtainable by purchasing the charging base (sold separately). Just a reminder, similar to the Carta 2 wireless charger, you can also use any wireless charger for your smartphone. If you’re willing to splurge, go for all the bells and whistles of these electronic dab rigs and enjoy, but if you have other priorities for your cash, a $20 wireless charger from Amazon or eBay will do just fine.
This device also comes with an Auto sleep feature which will conserve battery life by turning the device off after a few minutes of inactivity. We can see this feature in most Vapor Cups which are also Wax Vaporizers. These Vapor Cups offer a slightly different experience for wax enthusiasts that prefer sessions at their own pace since it allows them to sip on the vapor as if it were a drink.
Portability
E Rigs are not known as being the most portable devices in the Vaporizer world, yet they are a huge step up from the traditional rig setups. The 2023 Puffco Peak Pro does its absolute best at being easy to take from place to place, but overall, using it in an outdoor setting can be tricky for obvious reasons.
Puffco included a Carry Case for its components to fit snugly into while on the move, the same as the OG Peak had. However, the Puffco Peak Pro’s carrying case has also been modified for the better. There are magnets on it that enable you to snap it open or closed, which feels much sturdier. The case is also quite discreet and isn’t easily registered as a Vaporizer until you open it up.
In general, the portability of a device will come down to its form factor, and E Rigs are much bigger than your standard Wax Pen. The Best Wax Pens offer amazing features to make your sessions much more portable. For example, the Gammatron which features its own wax container, making it easy to carry with you and removing the need for extra tools overall.
Ease of Use
The New Puffco Peak Pro may seem complex for beginners, but many helpful how-to videos and reviews are online. The App adds more complexity, but the numerous options can overwhelm first-time users. This device is top-notch with a range of features and a corresponding price, so don’t expect simplicity, but you get plenty of choices. The Carta 2 is equally impressive and intricate. If you’re new to E-Rigs and want something simpler and affordable with a 3D heating chamber of good quality, consider the Utillian 8. Alternatively, if you want to save money, go for the Core 2.1.
Having mentioned the app, once you understand the core concepts of the vaporizer operation, the app will simplify customization than using the main button alone. Not to mention that the app provides many more options for use. Our survey shows users generally dislike using an app to interact with their vaporizers. The apps are useful for setting up your preferences, but you won’t need to revisit them frequently. You don’t want to bother with app settings when you want to relax. It’s a nice feature but doesn’t make an E-Rig great.
In terms of the changes made to enhance its previous version, the button on the device has been changed to be much more noticeable and easier to locate, which was a big pain point mentioned by the OG peak users.
Regarding ease of use, we would rate the Peak Pro as more challenging, except when using the base settings. It can be simple to use unless you want to utilize its features fully.
Overall Experience
The Puffco Peak Pro is an excellent stride forward in the world of E Rigs. They have made changes to almost every aspect of the device, all for the better, and it is hard to deny that the Pro sits in the top tier of E Rigs. There’s a lot to like between the USB-c charging, versatile app, joystick cap, and high-performing 3D Heating chamber.
The rather large and obvious downside is the price tag of this piece of technology, as it quite steep when compared to other devices that provide similar experiences for much less. But, if you’re willing to shell out the cash, I would say it is certainly worth it, especially for those with access to higher-quality concentrates. Those looking for something cheaper should check out the Utillian 8, which features a real 3D atomizer that is heated from the bottom and sides.
