How it Works

The Flowermate Slick follows a familiar Flowermate format when it comes to use. Using a single button to operate the unit, five rapid clicks turns the device on, while three rapid presses adjust the temperature.

Once the device reaches temperature, the LED will stop blinking and you’re ready to go. Simply take your hits and away you go!

Temperature Flexibility

The Slick comes bundled with three temperature presets. Users can choose between 196, 204 and 215°C, or 385, 400, and 420°F. This is alright, though we’d like to see much more variety between the settings. Like what we see on a unit like the Utillian 421.

This gives most users a decent range to work within, those who prefer flavor will want to stick with the lower settings, while those who prefer clouds can just jump to setting 3.

The highest setting is great for extracting every little bit out of your herb and however if you are looking for the best extraction we recommend checking out the Zeus Arc GTS Hub.

Vapor Quality

The Slick is pretty solid for its size and price. Similar to the performance offered by the Arizer Air ii, the Flowermate Slick glass mouthpiece cools the hit down just enough for it to not be too harsh while retaining good flavor.

The ceramic conduction oven holds up to 0.4 grams of finely ground, packed down herb. This is a pretty large amount and will definitely help achieve those big, powerful hits. Cloud production is alright through the Slick, and pretty solid at the highest temperature with long draws.

As with most conduction vaporizers, the flavor drops off pretty quickly from fresh herb to a ‘roasted popcorn’ taste. The same applies to the Slick, especially with the default temperatures being pretty high. Users that want flavor along with big clouds usually prefer units like the Utillian 722.

Manufacturing Quality

We’re quite fond of the build quality behind the Flowermate lineup and the Slick is no different. The body is rugged, feels great, and looks pretty slick, to say the least. All the pieces feel well machined and assembled, and judging by Flowermate’s reputation, we expect the Slick to stand the test of time.

Included in the box is a decent bit of kit, including; the unit itself, one 18650 battery, concentrates cup, herb pod, liquid pod, Micro-USB cable, cleaning brush, packing tool, 5 x spare mouthpiece & chamber screens, warranty info, and user manual. This definitely leaves a good taste with us as we often see even more expensive units include less than this budget vape! Thanks, Flowermate.Flowermate Slick detached

With the addition of a removable 18650 battery, you’ll be able to swap them out on the fly and replace it when it inevitably reaches the end of its lifespan.

The stock battery is rated for 2500mAh which yields roughly 6-9 sessions per charge, depending on temperature setting and use habits. You can also replace it with any other quality 18650 battery, though this may void the warranty or cause problems if the wrong cell is used.

If you do decide to do this, use a good quality 18650! We can’t stress this enough! Ensure the specs match the default battery and is from a reputable source. Some users who do not want to risk a mishap and want a unit that yields a number of sessions usually tend to prefer devices like the Solo Arizer 2. It can yield more than 14 sessions.

Portability

The slick is a great little addition to the pocket or your bag. Fitting comfortably in most pockets like the LITL 1 and durable enough to withstand some abuse, it makes a great carry-on device. With its theoretically endless battery life, provided you have enough spare 18650s, it survives extended outings with no problem.

It’s not quite as portable as a higher-end 3rd generation vaporizer like Zeus Arc S hub which includes the equipment needed to fill Arcpods so you can load with you on the go while using almost no extra space in your pockets.

Ease of Use

A great beginner friendly dry herb vaporizer, the Slick is simple to use and a beginner could pick up the device and master it within a few sessions similar to the Utillian 421 Vaporizer. Handing it off to a friend or stranger to take a few hits from won’t require any special coaching, and the process of cleaning is also quite simple.

To clean the Slick, remove the mouthpiece assembly and simply submerge it in isopropyl alcohol. Use a cotton swap dipped in iso to clean out the chamber from any residue. Give the mouthpiece a quick rinse before putting it back on and running a dry session. You can also use the Zeus cleaning kit for a more easier and cleaner unit.

We recommend cleaning the device every few sessions to keep it running smoothly as the mouthpiece screen tends to clog and reduce performance.

Discreetness

The stealthy black design alongside the style which looks like your average e-cig vape leaves it as a discrete unit. The size makes it hide away almost entirely in the hand and slips well into most pockets without being conspicuous.

Do take note of the smell put out from the device still. Conduction based devices tend to leave a more residual odor unlike the convection based devices like the Utillian 722 and the Slick is no exception to that. Still, it’s a pretty solid stealthy herb vaporizer.

Flowermate Slick full kitOverall Experience

We enjoy the Slick and find it stacks up well to other budget dry herb vaporizers. Going toe to toe and even surpassing some units like the XMax Starry, and infamous G Pen Pro, the Slick is in a good spot!

We particularly like the convenient size, replaceable battery, and attractive design. The vapor quality is a touch above average in its price range and overall it’s a solid entry-level device.

Last but not least, the Flowermate Slick is also compatible with the recently updated Utillian Glass Bubbler which is definitely worth looking into if you already own the Slick or are looking to pick one up.
