Atmos Aegis Vaporizer Review – Aegism

Updated: October 6, 2023

Today we will be looking at the Atmos Aegis, this unit is slim, features an LED display and precise temperature control. While those features are always appetizing to a vaporizer user, the device is also constructed mainly of plastic, so we have our reservations about this unit. So let’s jump right in and take a closer look.

Review: Atmos Aegis

Atmos Aegis Vaporizer

How Atmos Aegis Vaporizer Works

How it Works

The Atmos Aegis is pretty straight forward to use right out of the box. To turn the unit on press the middle power button 3 times quickly, once on it will automatically begin to heat up to the last pre-set temperature.

You can adjust the temperature down to the individual degree by pressing the down and up arrow buttons located to the left and right of the power button respectively.

Loading the unit is as simple as snapping off the mouthpiece to reveal the heating chamber, filling it with your desired herbs and placing the mouthpiece back on the unit.

Temperature Flexibility

This unit offers customers a decent range of temperatures to work with through the LED screen. The Aegis can be set anywhere between 160 to 220C, which will allow users to customize their vapor profile.

Those who prefer thinner vapor will want to use the unit between 180 – 195C, while those who prefer thicker vapor will want to step the temperature up to about 210C – 220C. Of course, because this unit offers precise temperature control similar to the Davinci IQC you can find your own sweet spot and program your temperature down to the individual degree.

Vapor Quality Of Atmos Aegis Vaporizer

Vapor Quality

While the Aegis does offer users a decent range of temperature, you tend to be limited due to the length of the vapor path. We found that at higher temperature vapor tends to be warm on the lips, even hot at times depending on the angle. This reminded us of the issues we had with the G-Pen Elite and a problem that most units with short vapor paths have.

Because of this, we found 205C was the highest temperature we could have the unit set at without experiencing uncomfortable warmth on my lips and mouth.

The other issue we found with this unit is that the vapor has a slight plastic taste because of the plastic mouthpiece and silicone mouthpiece insert. When the mouthpiece warms up the flavor becomes more apparent which we did not enjoy. We really wish they used a stronger plastic or did not have silicone in the mouthpiece because this is a bit of a deal-breaker.

Manufacturing Quality Of Atmos Aegis Vaporizer

Manufacturing Quality

We have to give props to Atmos for designing such a small unit, however, it does share many similarities to the G-Pen Elite, so we wonder if this unit might be a clone with a slightly different exterior and mouthpiece.

I really don’t love the odd, nipple shaped, mouthpiece. They put a silicone insert in it which is supposed to act as a heat sink, but it does not work at all in practice and results in a plastic taste and warm vapor.

The LED on the Aegis is bright, easy to read and really is the only thing the Aegis has going for it. The rest of the build is a bit lackluster. We even found that the USB charger did not sit very well in the device.

Users that prefer an even smaller unit so with more features usually tend to prefer devices such as the Davinci Miqro.

Battery Life Of Atmos Aegis Vaporizer

Battery Life

The Aegis has a single 18650 inside, which in our tests gave us roughly 30 – 45 minutes of battery life. If you use the unit at higher temperatures expect the battery life to be less. We really wish this unit offered users a bit more power, we found we could only get 2 – 3 sessions from the device before needing to charge it.

Units like the Arizer Air combat this by offering a removable battery, something we would love to see if there is ever another Aegis build. But for now the battery life on this unit is sub-par at best.

Portability Of Atmos Aegis Vaporizer

Portability

The Atmos Aegis is a very portable unit, it is quite small and rests easily in the palm of your hand similar to the Zeus Arc GTS Hub. It can also be easily stored in a pocket, bag or Zeus Armor Case for easy travel.

Our main concern for portability is the mouthpiece, which can pop off in your pocket if you do a little too much moving. If you like to hike, jog or bike with your vape, this may not be the one for you as it may spill its contents into your pocket either before or after you’ve enjoyed your herbs.

Battery life also hurts this unit for portability only offering users 2 – 3 sessions per charge and does not offer much for those looking for a unit to take with them for an entire day. We would suggest checking out the Zeus Arc S Hub if this is your main concern as it offers users over 90 minutes of battery life.

Ease Use Of Atmos Aegis Vaporizer

Ease of Use

The Aegis is extremely easy to use, mostly because of the digital display and precise temperature controls, unlike the Firefly 2 plus that is a bit difficult to get a grasp. There is no need to learn any button combinations or color patterns to know what temperature you are at.

Just simply set the device to your desired temperature and allow it to heat up.

The silicone insert in the mouthpiece of the Aegis makes it a bit more difficult to clean. Using 99% alcohol is not the best as it can damage the silicone, instead, you may want to try a chlorine based solution like the Zeus Purify, which will not damage silicone.

Overall Experience Of Atmos Aegis Vaporizer

Overall Experience

Overall we feel like the Atmos Aegis is a bit of a swing and a miss. While the design and size is right up our alley, offering an extremely portable package, it falls short on key categories like vapor quality and manufacturing quality.

The short vapor path, plastic mouthpiece and silicone mouthpiece insert directly affect the quality of vapor received from this unit giving off a plastic taste. The short vapor path also results in uncomfortably warm vapor.

So while we feel like this unit has tremendous potential, there is a lot of work to be done before we can recommend it. If you are looking for a unit with precise temperature control that offers a more satisfying vapor experience and significantly better battery life we highly recommend checking out the Zeus Arc S Hub, a much more viable alternative.

Compatible with ZEUS Iceborn
This vaporizer is compatible with the ZEUS Iceborn, a revolutionary new vapor cooling system engineered by Canadian vape manufacturer ZEUSArsenal. The Iceborn is designed to produce cooler draws and bigger clouds when connected to your vaporizer. The vapour produced is ultra smooth and crisp and because of ice cooling, instead of water filtration, there is no loss of efficiency. The ZEUS Iceborn adds an additional 2 points to the vapor quality score of this vaporizer and is a highly recommended vaporizer accessory.
