Review: G Pen Roam

How it Works<\/h3>\n

As with any device, we highly recommend charging it fully before your first use. Next, open up the Roam and fill the hydro-tube (a great feature that we\u2019ll get into later) to the marked line. Press the power button 5 times rapidly to turn it on.<\/p>\n

Use the +\/- buttons to adjust your temperature in 25 degree increments. Load your concentrates onto the coil. The Roam has two heat activation modes \u2013 manual and automatic. Press the power button twice rapidly to automatically heat to your chosen temperature.<\/p>\n

It will vibrate when it reaches temperature and stay hot for 30 seconds before cooling down. Press and hold the power temperature button for your desired amount to activate manual heating. It will maintain heat until it released.<\/p>\n

Temperature Flexibility<\/h3>\n

The Roam has a temperature range of 600-800F, or 315-425C. As stated before, you can adjust this temperature in 25 degree increments by pressing the up and down buttons on the side of the device.<\/p>\n

We found this to be a pretty solid range of temperatures, as anything hotter than this will drastically change the flavor of your chosen concentrates.<\/p>\n

The other feature of the Roam that is pretty neat is Max Mode. While on the highest temperature of 800F, press the power button once to enter Max Mode, which will output full temperature. The LED display will show \u201cMAX\u201d while this mode is active.<\/p>\n

If the unit overheats, the display will show a hand and automatically cool down the unit reaches a functioning temperature. Max Mode is great if you want to extract the most out of your wax or for cleaning out your bucket after a session.<\/p>\n

As you\u2019ve probably guessed, these temperatures are way too hot for dry herb, but if you\u2019re looking for a great 2-in-1 device, we\u2019d recommend looking at a unit like the Focus V Tourist, which has an attachment for both concentrates and dry herb. <\/div><\/div>

Vapor Quality<\/h3>\n

The vapor quality of the Roam is great. The water filtration will always be a solid feature, as much as it stresses me out that the water is held internally. As stated before, the Roam features a great range of temperatures for flavor. The long vapor path, through the water, definitely cools your hits before they reach your lips.<\/p>\n

I found I enjoyed the vapor from the automatic heat activation mode, which is rare for me. I normally like the pulse the fire button to get my desired vapor, but Grenco has done a great job of ramping up the temperature pretty evenly, and I\u2019m into it. If you’re looking to get the best temperature setting from your G Pen Roam, definitely give this a shot first.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
