Updated: October 6, 2023

In the vaping scene, it seems like current trends are moving away from large oversized box mods as more and more vapers are opting for a more portable and streamlined package to vape on. Smok has learned to capitalize on this as it’s been pumping out a steady stream of tube mods to satisfy our thirst for this slim form factor. The latest kit to grace the market is the Smok Stick Prince. Bundled with a hefty 3000mAh battery and a solid performing Prince tank, it’s a compact device that promises to rival even larger box mods. Let’s dive down into the details of the device in the review below see what this latest kit brings to the table.

Review: Smok Stick Prince Kit

Smok Stick Prince Review

Manufacturing Quality

Finished with the same paint job which we’ve seen in many other recent Smok devices, it’s good to see that the Smok Stick Prince hasn’t deviated from this tried and true formula as Smok offers the Stick Prince in a wide array of stunning colorways.

Unlike the Smok devices of early 2017, the paint job on their more recent devices has been vastly improved and is highly resistant to chips, scratches, and dings. It’s always better to err on the side of caution though and avoid storing the device alongside other metallic or sharp objects if you want to keep your device looking good as new. If you are looking for a 510-thread battery for oil cartridges we suggest checking out the Tronian Pitron.

With a single battery venting hole located at the bottom of the device, it’s always a relief to see a manufacturer not cutting any corners or forgetting basic features to increase battery safety which many other companies are all too guilty off these days. The top of the Smok Stick houses the spring loaded 510 connection which facilitates a perfect connection with the device itself and the bundled Prince tank, ensuring that the tank sits perfectly flush without so much as a hint of a gap.

The threading is consistent throughout the entire kit from the mod itself to the Prince tank, and screwing the tank on top of the device is effortless without any rough edges or burrs for the threads to get stuck on.

One noteworthy characteristic about the TFV12 Prince tank is that the glass tank has a bulb-like shape which is wider than the mod itself, meaning that you’re going to have to be careful not to let the device tip over as this would easily shatter the glass tank.

Luckily, Smok included a rubber vape band with the kit which acts as a shock absorber. It’s still best to exercise caution when handling the mod though as the vape band doesn’t make the device shock or drop proof.

Taking a closer look at the firing button of the Smok Stick Prince, it’s interesting to see that Smok has stepped away from their comfort zone a bit and fashioned the firing button into an elongated hexagonal shape which looks quite good in my opinion.

An LED light outlines the firing button which acts as an indicator for the device’s battery life. The LED flashes 4 times whenever taking a puff at nominal battery levels, and flashes quickly 15 times when the mod is in need of an immediate recharge.

Flavor Quality

Despite its minuscule size, the Smok Stick Prince makes no compromise on either flavor or vapor production. This is mostly due to the coils that it supports. Included in the kit are two 0.17-ohm quadruple coil heads capable of vaporizing a respectable amount of e-liquid with every puff.

Flavors come through strong and don’t feel muted at all, while the vapor output is more than enough to rival even the biggest of box mods out in the market right now.

Coil longevity is pretty average as far as Smok coils go which isn’t a bad thing at all. Each coil lasts an average of 7-9 days before flavor quality starts to degrade. Also, take note that how long your coils last is largely dependent on the quality of e-liquid you’re vaping with.

E-liquids that use a lot of sweeteners will heavily decrease the lifespan of your coil, shortening its lifespan down to a measly 3-4 days from experience so your mileage may vary. Users who are interested in 510 thread cartridges for oil often prefer the CCELL Silo.

Power Flexibility

While the Smok Stick Prince fires at a fixed wattage and doesn’t allow you to configure specific wattage settings or temperature control options, that doesn’t mean it fails to give way to a fair share of potential options for fine tuning your vaping experience.

My only complaint is minor, we’ve already seen many iterations of the same tube-style device from Smok using the same 3000mAh battery. It would be nice if they were to allow the implementation of 18650 batteries as this would allow for easy swapping between batteries when needed.

The onboard chip, while basic, lets the Smok Stick Prince fire at a low minimum resistance of 0.1-ohms, which means if you’re hankering for more vaping power out of this device, you can slap on an RDA which accommodates custom coil builds and build towards the resistance and power output you’re looking for.

The same principle works inversely so if you find the output a bit too intense, you can always purchase Smok coils with a higher ohm rating to get a more relaxed vape.

Ease of Use

Like most tube mods, the operation of the Smok Stick Prince is simple as it comes. Press the firing button 5 times to turn it on, press the firing button to vape.

When done vaping, click the firing button another 5 times to shut the mod off to ensure safe storage (It’s never a good idea to forget this last step as most mishaps occur when mods accidentally fire when in your pocket or bag).

The same simplicity applies to the maintenance of the kit. The TFV12 Prince tank has a maximum e-liquid capacity of 8ml which more than enough. Coupling this with Smok’s signature push swivel top fill mechanism and you’ve got a kit which is incredibly easy to keep topped up.

Portability

With a total height of 148mm and a diameter of 24.5mm with a slight exception towards the glass tank which has a diameter of 28mm, the Smok Stick Prince presents no issues when its time to put to the mod away.

Easily fitting into pockets or small bags or purses, the Smok Stick Prince is an easy candidate for taking your vape on the go. It’s lightweight too, weighing in at less than 150 grams, guaranteeing that you’ll barely feel it in your pocket or bag.

While the 3000mAh battery is plenty for most standards, it has some difficulty keeping up with the bundled 0.17-ohm coils that come with the kit. So for regular use or heavy vapers, it’ll become mandatory to recharge the battery through the micro USB charging port and included cable at some point in the day.

If you’re looking to get more longevity out of your mod’s battery, it might be a good idea to consider taking a look at the other coil options that Smok is offering and selecting a coil with a higher resistance or ohm rating.

Overall Experience

While the Smok Stick Prince doesn’t really bring anything new to the table, it does a great job of offering solid performance in a tiny package.

Ideal not only for beginners to vaping, but for seasoned vapers who are looking for a more compact device that doesn’t compromise in vaping performance, the Smok Stick Prince is easily worthy of your vaping dollars.
