SMOK Q-Box Vape Kit Review – Q-Tips

Updated: October 6, 2023

The SMOK Q-BOX might just be the smallest mod on the market. This takes tiny to a whole new level. It’s so small that the Baby Beast tank that’s in the kit nearly doubles the height. Is this too small to be functional or the perfect ultra-portable mod? Also, be sure to check our vape buyer’s guides for important information to consider before making your first purchase.

Manufacturing Quality Of Smok Q-Box Vape Kit

Manufacturing Quality

I’ll be honest. The build quality for the Q-Box could be better. Don’t get me wrong, the tiny size has a cool novelty factor. If you’re buying this, you pretty much only care about the size anyway. You’re obviously not looking for the mod with the best functionality at least.

Before I get to the things I wish were improved, let’s take a closer look at the size of this. The measurements of the mod itself are 54.8mm x 33.57mm x 25mm. That’s less than 2-¼” tall. 2.15748” to be exact. The width is about 1-?”, and its less than 1” thick. You’re probably reading this thinking, Wow, that is small.  I still don’t think you understand. Go get a ruler and a piece of paper and draw a rectangle with this height and width. You have to see it in person to really understand.

Now that we have established that this is ridiculously small, let’s go over the things that could be improved. For starters, I think it’s about time SMOK updates their menu. I just did a review of another SMOK product the other day and was fine with the same menu as always, but the more I think about it, the more I think they need to update it. Especially for a mod so tiny. The same display that works on a mod twice this size shouldn’t be used in this, in my opinion.

It doesn’t click much, and I could actually see it getting stuck when you don’t want it firing. Then there’s the fact that the paint isn’t that well done. Your tanks are definitely going to scrape up the top of this. Finally, the charging port is located on the bottom instead of the side.

Speaking of the battery, this only has a 1600mAh capacity in a built-in battery. The battery life is going to be terrible, especially with the tank and coils included in the kit. If you are looking for a 510-thread battery for oil cartridges we suggest checking out the Tronian Nutron.

The Baby Beast tank that’s included is well made and produces good vapor. The coils could last a little longer, but they are nice as well. It’s odd that they didn’t take the time to make a tiny tank for this as well. The Baby Beast is 53mm tall, which is less than 2mm shorter than the mod itself.

Flavor Quality

The Baby Beast puts out very good flavor, and the cloud size is impressive as well. This kit includes the relatively new Baby M2 coils, which are rated at 0.25ohms.

Vaping at the whole 50w max for the Q-BOX puts out insane clouds for such a tiny mod, but you’ll rip through your battery life.

If you want the battery to last a little longer, drop it down to 30w where you’ll enjoy better flavor and clouds that are still respectable.

If you are someone who also uses 510 oil cartridges and other vapers have reported Yocan Uni Pro is a good place to start.

Power Flexibility

The power flexibility is good for such a small mod. The limiting feature is obviously the amount of watts that it can put out. 50w is still plenty for most people. This also has temperature control for stainless steel, nickel, and titanium. The temperature range is the standard 200-600F. In temperature control mode, the resistance range is 0.06ohm to 3.0ohm. In wattage mode, the range is 0.1ohm to 3.0ohm.

Ease of Use

This is fairly easy to use, especially if you have used a SMOK product before because you’ll be used to the menu. I actually think that the small size makes it harder to use than something that is a little bit bigger because it takes work to make sure your fingers are in the right places. It would also be nice if the fire button was more responsive. For the most part though, you should have no problem using this.

Portability

The portability of this is obviously great. The mod itself is pretty much as small as you will ever find, so it’s very easy to carry. Like I mentioned above, it would have been nice to have a smaller tank to pair with this, but the combo is still exceptionally small and delivers great results.

The other thing to consider is the fact that you’ll be sacrificing a lot of battery life with this. If you plan on vaping it near the max wattage, I’d only plan on a couple of hours per charge.

Overall Experience

If you like tiny things and understand the limitations that come with them, then the SMOK Q-BOX may be a good mod to pick up just for the novelty. It would be fun to show off to friends as well.

Personally, I’m a big fan of this vape when I need something super small with wattage control fully available to me. Also, I can’t get enough of the SMOK tanks.

Again, the Q-BOX is designed for the people out there that just have to have it because it’s the smallest mod available. If you fit in this category, you can pick one up from our store.

Those who are looking for a little more of a traditional sized unit with more power may want to consider the SMOK G150. And for those who want a similarly portable vape that isn’t quite as tiny and better on battery we highly recommend the Vaporesso Target Mini.
