Manufacturing Quality

Probably one of the most notable characteristics of the Jwell La Carte is its exceptionally thin form factor which is most likely where its name is derived from. Bearing a slimness akin to a standard credit card, the Jwell Lacarte comes in just under 10mm in terms of overall thickness.

With the nonprotruding mouthpiece curiously located at the corner of the mod, the entire package is pretty sleek to handle especially when it comes to slipping the mod in and out of your pocket.

Another surprising feature of the Jwell Lacarte is its 400mAh battery, cleverly tucked away into the internals of the mod, the relatively larger battery size doesn’t in any way compromise its portability or ergonomics. If you are someone who also uses 510 oil cartridges and other vapers have reported Tronian Nutron is a good place to start.

Considering the minuscule form factor of the Jwell La Carte, it’s not surprising that the device doesn’t come with a full-fledged display, instead opting for an LED indicator light which has become prevalent in most portable devices as of late. LED display or none, the Jwell La Carte still does a good job of conveying important information effectively such as remaining battery life.Jwell La Carte available colors

Something not often seen in other devices is the Jwell La Carte’s usage of a USB Type C port. While micro USB technology has been considered the standard for the longest time, it doesn’t come without its share of drawbacks such as the tendency for the port to loosen up with regular use, a con that the Type C standard has effectively eliminated so Jwell definitely gets props for implementing that in the La Carte.

Flavor Quality

The Jwell La Carte opts for an open pod-system with a 2ml e-liquid reservoir. While the refillable pods can be used with any e-liquid of your choice, Jwell themselves recommends using salt-based e-liquid most likely due to the relatively low vaping output of the device.

Flavor and vapor output fall right around the expected ballpark as far as mouth to lung devices are concerned, considering that the Jwell La Carte is a mouth to lung device, a tighter airflow was to be expected but that really wasn’t the case here, though the extra airy draw is a bit more satisfying.

Just like most pod-style devices, the Jwell La Carte relies on a draw activated sensor that automatically fires up the device as soon as you take a puff. Throughout the testing period, the sensor has been reliable wherein it fires without fail when it detects a draw, giving the entire kit a smooth and straightforward feeling when used. If you are looking for a 510-thread battery for oil cartridges we suggest checking out the Smok Micare.

Despite the nonprotruding mouthpiece, the Jwell La Carte still has a comfortable mouthfeel although the shortened chimney does have a tendency to produce a warm vaping experience especially when the Jwell La Carte is chain vaped.

Ease of Use

While the Jwell La Carte uses a draw activated firing system to keep things simple for the neophyte vaper, it doesn’t go for a totally button-less design. The inclusion of a dedicated on/off switch can be a boon or bane depending on the type of vaper you are but in our case, it definitely helped set minds at ease when storing the device away for longer periods, ensuring that the mod wouldn’t fire in any scenario.

The LED indicator is easy enough to follow with simple color-coded cues letting you know how much charge is left in the Jwell La Carte’s battery. As for refilling the pods, a silicon gasket is easily removed and installed making for a hassle-free refilling experience, not to mention the gasket also does a great job of keeping the entire kit leak-free so you won’t have to worry about e-liquid spilling out and potentially getting into the contents of your bag or pocket.

Portability

With the overall dimensions of the Jwell La Carte measuring out to 80mm x 46mm x 9mm, it might not the smallest pod-style device on the market, but its definitely one of the thinnest.

While the included leather case adds a bit of girth to the kit, it’s still a nice touch considering it helps protect the mod against unwanted scratches. One potential caveat though is that the kit doesn’t include the wall charger required to charge device so you’re going to have to purchase that separately.

Battery life on the Jwell La Carte is above average given that the industry standard for pod-style devices; notably the Pax Juul has an integrated battery with a rating of 250mAh while the Jwell La Carte holds 400mAh of battery life in a single charge. Thanks to the USB Type C port used on the device, getting the device from zero to a full charge is lightning fast with charge-up times measuring out to less than 20 minutes overall.Jwell La Carte tank detached

Overall Experience

The Jwell La Carte presents a compelling option within the realm of pod-style devices wherein its one of the thinnest devices available in its category. While the integrated mouthpiece can be a hit or miss depending on your preferences, it does give a unique take on compact and small form factor mods.

The 400mAh battery has lots of power to spare for a whole day’s worth of vaping making the La Carte a strong choice for vapers who are always on the go, especially when paired with the quick charge up time of the mod.

If you are more interested in a closed-pod system we recommend checking out the Bo Plus and if you think the La Carte is the pod-vape for you, you can pick one up from our shop.
