Joyetech Exceed D19 Review – Does it Exceed?
Review: Joyetech Exceed D19
Manufacturing Quality
The manufacturing quality of the Joyetech Exceed D19 is actually pretty good. I just reviewed the SMOK M17, and this is extremely refreshing in comparison – even if it is a whole 1.5mm thicker.
There a couple of features that I really like about this. The first is the way they designed the tank to work well for both mouth-to-lung-and direct-lung vaping. You get one coil for each style in the kit, but the tank also has an airflow adjustment ring to let you control the draw even more.
There is one big slot for use with the direct-lung coil, or you can slide the ring over to expose 3 holes for the mouth-to-lung coil. You can leave all three open or cover them all up, so there is a ton of variety.
The other feature I really like is the two power output modes. This still lacks wattage or temperature control, but it is a step above all the vapes out there that only offer one. The two modes are direct output and constant voltage. If you dont know what those are, Ill explain them in more detail in the power flexibility section below.
The 1500mAh battery is internal. With internal batteries, I greatly prefer 2A charging over the standard 1A, but this doesnt indicate which it has. Id say its safe to assume it does not have 2A, unfortunately. Users who are interested in 510 thread cartridges for oil often prefer the Tronian Nutron.
In general, this is built well and solid for such a small device.
Flavor Quality
The vapor quality for the Exceed starter kit is good. I really like the way you can adjust the draw style so easily. It performs very well in both modes, although the direct-lung style is a little restricted even when the airflow is fully open. It seems perfect for people first switching from cigarettes in that sense. You can start with mouth-to-lung draws and slowly work your way up.
The flavor is great in both modes. Vapor production is a little on the light side in either though. Im not a cloud chaser, so that doesnt bother me at all. If youre new to vaping, you probably wont want big, thick clouds anyway.
Power Flexibility
Like most pen-style vapes, this doesnt have wattage or temperature control. But it still manages to offer a little bit of flexibility where others dont. Like I mentioned above, there are two modes for this vape: direct output and constant voltage.
Direct output mode delivers a voltage that varies based on the charge level of the battery. So as your battery runs out of juice, the voltage output will drop. The performance will also dip because of the power drop, but the positive side of this is that the battery will last longer.
Constant voltage mode forces the vape to continue delivering its max voltage until the battery dies. You still cant adjust the voltage, but this mode at least keeps the performance consistent. The bad part about this is that the battery will deplete much quicker. This isnt a problem when you have easy access to power.
To change between the two modes, you just press and hold the button when the device itself is off. The indicator light ring will flash a color when it changes. Direct output mode is white and constant voltage is orange. If you are someone who also uses 510 oil cartridges and other vapers have reported Vessel Cartridge Battery is a good place to start.
Ease of Use
This is very easy to use. Once youve chosen the mode you want as described above, you just turn the unit on and press and hold the button to draw.
The tank fills from the top, but you still have to unscrew the entire cap to access the filling ports.
A design with quicker access would have been better, but this still isnt hard.
Portability
The portability of this is good. With it being so small, you can carry it easily without any discomfort. This is true of most vape pens though.
When portability is important, make sure you switch to direct output mode. This will help you conserve battery life while on the go and away from power.
Overall Experience
I like the Joyetech EXCEED D19 starter kit.
The vapor production is good, and I like that it works well for both direct-lung and mouth-to-lung vaping. This is a great feature for people just switching to vaping from smoking.
I also like that you can switch between two power output modes. Its not nearly as nice as having control over voltage, wattage, or temperature, but its a lot better than nothing.
The battery capacity is good, but I really wish they would have included 2A charging. Not having it isnt a deal breaker, but it does make this less convenient to use.
If you want something extremely simple, check out the Kandypens Rubi and if you are looking for a mod style kit to start with we recommend the Vaporesso Revenger.
