Review: Joyetech Atopack Penguin
Manufacturing Quality
The Atopack Penguin vape is a great option for both beginner and seasoned vapers. Your color choices are Silver, White, Red, Blue, and Black. People who use 510 cartridges tend to prefer the CCELL Palm.
Flavor Quality
The Atopack Penguin Kit uses an innovative JVIC (Juice Vertical Injection Coil) system. This JVIC system uses a design that allows vertical juice injection into the coil while allowing airflow to take a less restrictive path which evenly vapes your juices. The Penguin has a ceramic cradle built in the coil design, which creates a new approach in producing smooth flavor as well as generating large clouds.
The Atopack Penguin Kit gives vapers the option of using Mouth to Lung (MTL) or Direct to Lung (DTL) vaping depending on the coil you choose – the package comes with 2 coils, the 0.6ohm for MTL and 0.25ohm for DTL.
Power Flexibility
The Atopack Penguin does not have really any power flexibility and is really user controlled with how long you inhale and how long you press down the fire button.
On a full battery charge this thing is actually very impressive and runs off of a max of 50w – the pod system seems to work really good at this level and produces pretty massive clouds. It really seems to have no trouble vaping a multitude of different vape juices.
The Atopack Penguin is a simple to use device that you shouldnt have any troubles picking it up and vaping right away with. The internal battery (2000mAh) is charged with the included USB cable. Your e-liquid goes in the top of the cartridge which the cartridge is placed into the bottom of the pod/mouthpiece. The 510 connectors are connected as you place the pod back onto the battery mod part of the Penguin.
To turn the Penguin on you click the fire button 5 times in a row – very standard. Under the fire button there are 5 LED lights which indicate the remaining battery power. To use the device all you need to do is have it filled with ejuice, have battery power, and inhale while you press down on the fire button.
Above the fire button you will see a hole – this is the airflow which is pretty neat to play with actually. Instead of breathing in you can breath out and although this is a bit of a waste of your e-juice it looks kinda cool, like a whale blowing water out of their airhole. Maybe this unit should have been called the Atopack Whale.
Portability
The portability of the Atopack Penguin is actually pretty impressive for a device that under $40. The Penguin comes with a 2000mAh built in battery that boasts enough power to get most vapers through their day. The Penguin uses a battery life indicator system using the 5 LED lights to show you how much charge remains at any given time when the device is on.
You can use additional Joyetech Atopack Penguin cartridges and coil units as hot swappable pods, this allows you to carry additional e-juice in a ready to go format. The quick swap system gives you flexibility to change between flavors or draw type without the need to empty and fill a tank or change the coil.
The Atopack Penguin is a pretty compact unit that measures just 26.5mm x 52.0mm x 102.5mm in size and 139.5g in weight.
Overall Experience
Our review here was focused mainly on the performance of this device in contrast with its modest retail price, if this unit interests you, be sure to pick one up from our shop.
Those looking for a bit more flexibility in their starter vape may want to consider the E-Leaf iStick Pico. And for those who want a vape that is more portable we highly recommend the Smok Q-Box.
