iJoy RDTA Box Review – What’s in the box!?

There are two parts that I consider when looking at the manufacturing quality of a unit. The first is the design, and the second is the execution of the design.

The concept for this setup is fantastic. On paper, this is one of the most appealing vapes that I’ve ever seen. You’ve got a big, dual 18650 box mod capable of delivering up to 200W plus all the temperature control options that have become standard these days.

The tank sits along the top, allowing it to have an absolutely massive size. The capacity is 12.8ml. When you’re dealing with a mod that uses screw on tanks, 5ml can seem like a lot of juice. 12.8ml is enough to keep you vaping for several days if you aren’t an extremely heavy user.

The coolest thing about the design though is the interchangeable build decks. While this automatically eliminates beginners as potential customers for this device, it’s an extremely intriguing and appealing aspect for people who like building their own setups.

Let’s talk about the execution now. Somehow I just got around to trying this, and I haven’t actually had any problems with it except for a little bit of leaking. But when I went and looked to see how it was received, I was surprised to see more problems than normal.

There are two main problems that people seem to have with this. The first is that the leaking continues to get worse over time. I even saw some people say that the plastic tank liner that hold the juice degraded so much that liquid destroyed their device. The second is that the base stops recognizing the decks that you put on, causing error readings on the screen and a device that won’t fire.

Again, I haven’t had any problems outside small leaking. Well, that and I also don’t like the sound the button makes, but that is probably an extremely personal critique. I normally wouldn’t report on other people’s problems, but in this case they seemed significant and common enough to warrant telling you.

If you’ve been using big box mods with 510 carts it may be time to look for something smaller, most vapers tend to start with Tronian Tautron for their oil because it’s much more compact than a mod.

If you’re looking for great flavor, you’ll definitely be able to achieve that with this setup. If you aren’t that familiar with vaping, you should know that RDA are the gold standard when it comes to vapor flavor.

While this is designed as a RDTA – meaning the wicks dip down and can be fed with the tank – you can also easily just drip with this as well if you prefer the flavor of straight dripping over letting the tank feed the wicks.

The multitude of deck designs also gives you plenty of opportunities to experiment with different builds on top.

This definitely isn’t a setup for beginners, but it is one that lends itself to letting users get their own version of perfect vapor. If you are someone who also uses 510 oil cartridges and other vapers have reported Vessel cartridge battery is a good place to start.

Ease of Use

This is easy to use for a RDTA, but it’s way too complicated for inexperienced vapers to use. Using build decks and making our own coils isn’t something that should be taken lightly. Big problems can result from screwing something up, so only try this if you do your research and are confident in your understanding.

As far as the mod goes, the menu is simple to navigate. It shouldn’t cause you any problems at all.

I think the interchangeable decks is a great feature. I also really like the huge tank capacity. This is a great setup for experienced vapers who like building their own coils.

I’m hesitant to recommend it though. All the complaints have me nervous. Will this hold up? Have they made improvements or updated it since they first released it almost a year ago? I don’t know.
