iJoy Avenger 270 Kit Review – Avengers Assemble

Updated: October 6, 2023

If there ever was a perfect time to release an Avengers-themed kit, it would be now. iJoy makes good timing with their take on an advanced robotic mod in the form of the iJoy Avenger 270. Powered by two 20700 batteries, this powerful mod shoots up all the way to a whopping 234 watts of pure vaping output. The kit comes bundled with the Avenger sub-ohm tank that makes use of mesh coils to provide a smoother and more consistent vaping experience.

Let’s take a closer look and check out the details of the device in the review below. Be sure to check the vape buyer’s guides for important information to take into consideration before making your purchase.

Manufacturing Quality

There’s not much to be said about the aesthetics of the iJoy Avenger except for the fact that it looks like it was literally ripped off Ironman’s suit. While the default colorway is fashioned similarly to the famous Avenger’s power armor, it does come in a multitude of equally attractive color options. The paint finish on the device is excellent as well, as its quite resistant to dings and scratches and should hold up well to regular wear and tear.

While the 510 connection up top looks pretty plain, its plenty durable. Outfitted with a high-quality spring loaded pin, the 510 connection forms a perfect connection with the included tank. One small detail though is that the 510 does protrude just a tiny amount from the top of the mod, so expect just the teensiest little gap between the atomizer and device even when screwing the tank all the way down.

iJoy Avenger available colors

The iJoy Avenger makes use of a bright color display on the front. Text is crisp and clear, and sunlight legibility is plenty decent. Off to the side is the solitary firing bar that takes up the entire left-hand-side of the mod. It’s wonderfully tactile with a crisp and clear click, but it’s just a tad too sensitive for my tastes as I often end up accidentally firing the device when picking it up from a table.

This is totally dependent on how you handle your devices though. I’m pretty heavy handed so it’s not surprising for me to be experiencing this issue. If you are someone who also uses 510 oil cartridges and other vapers have reported Vessel cartridge battery is a good place to start.

Flavor Quality

One thing that surprised me the most about the iJoy Avenger is the excellent performance I’m able to get out of the pre-installed mesh coils. Flavor density is all there and vapor production exceeds my expectations. The pre-installed mesh coil clocks in at 0.15 ohms which should be low enough for any power users who love to blow out big clouds. Coil durability is great as well with each lasting for around a week give or take before flavor and vapor quality start to suffer.

The Avenger sub-ohm tank has great airflow as well and thanks to the dual adjustable bottom airflow ring, supports multiple airflow settings. Regardless of how loose or tight, you prefer it, airflow is consistent and doesn’t display any turbulence which is all too common with some badly-designed atomizers. I’ve also yet to experience any annoying leaks with the tank which is a big plus. People who use 510 cartridges tend to prefer the Linx Hermes 3.

Power Flexibility

Thanks to the maximum power output of 234 watts on the iJoy Avenger, ramp up is quick and almost instantaneous. There is minimal firing delay as well, further improving the overall vaping experience. A nice little extra which iJoy threw in with the kit are the 18650 adapters which let you use your standard 18650 battery cells with this device, which can be helpful if you prefer a slightly lighter kit.

The top of the mod also supports atomizers up to 30mm wide in diameter which gives you a good amount of room to slap your own RDAs or tanks on top if you’re looking to build bigger setups.

The iJoy Avenger supports multiple pre-sets for power curves in wattage mode as well as the option to create your own user setting. Temperature control for all coil options is also supported. Temperature control on the iJoy Avenger feels satisfying enough to use but it’s definitely no real challenger for the more premium DNA mods. Adjustable TCR settings are also available letting you easily and quickly define your own vaping experience to a T.

Ease of Use

Another feature that’s been slowly breaking into the mainstream market is the inclusion of voice-activated commands. The iJoy Avenger has a comprehensive list of pre-set voice commands that can be used to change most of the basic settings of the mod.

Examples are making adjustments to the wattage of the device, turning it on or off, manipulate various LED functions, locking the device, and switching between different vaping modes.

While using the voice recognition function is responsive, I feel that the preset voice commands need a bit of tweaking. For example, turning the LED lights on or off are toggled with the command “Romantic Light” which just feels really awkward to say out loud, especially if you’re in public. Luckily, the voice recognition feature can be totally ignored as the physical buttons used on the iJoy Avenger are both responsive and well-positioned, making overall operation of the kit a breeze.

Portability

With overall dimensions measuring out to 141mm * 50mm (tank included), the iJoy Avenger is definitely not one of the most compact devices out there, even when comparing it other dual battery mods, it manages to dwarf the competition when it comes to thickness. This is mostly due to the fact that the iJoy Avenger uses larger and higher capacity 20700 batteries.

While this means that this kit isn’t ideal for vapers who like to pocket their mods, the tradeoff in sheer battery life and power delivery is worth it. The kit lasts for at least 2-3 days on a single charge making it an ideal device for vapers who dislike swapping batteries often.

Overall Experience

While many might consider the advanced voice functionality of the kit a mere gimmick, it works surprisingly well given the right scenario. The iJoy Avenger delivers great flavor and vapor production as well as stellar battery life that should literally last days for any vaper.

If you’re a fan of Marvel movies and especially the Iron Man franchise and are in the market for a powerful and well-built kit, the iJoy Avenger provides all these things in spades earning it a strong recommendation for any vaper looking for a great quality device.

If you are looking for the most portable and straightforward unit we would probably chalk that up to the Kandypens Rubi. If you are looking for a mod-style vape to start with we suggest checking out the Smok X-Priv.
