Eleaf iCare 2 Review – Do you care?

For the price, I’d say that the iCare 2 is extremely well made.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot that it doesn’t have. In fact, it pretty much lacks all the things that experienced vapers typically look for in a vape. But huge mods that deliver hundreds of watts of power and sub ohm vaping can be extremely intimidating to people who don’t understand it, and that is a barrier for many people trying to quit smoking.

To get people to quit smoking cigarettes, you have to offer them something simple that they can use and carry just like a pack of cigarettes. They need something that they can pick up with no hassle and use to replace their old habits. That’s what the iCare 2 can do, and I think it does that very well.

For starters, it’s extremely small and thin. This means that there should be no problem carrying this around everywhere just like a smoker would with a pack of cigarettes. Eleaf managed to keep it this small by using a built-in 650mAh battery. The finish also feels nice. It’s painted, but it has a rubberized texture that feels a lot nicer than a simple plastic mod.

The tank has a rectangular shape so that it can fit inside the base. It slides in and out of place, and the top has holes for easy filling. These are accessed by removing the mouthpiece.

There are two coils included in the kit. Both are the same 1.3ohm coils that were included with the original iCare. To install them, you just remove the tank and the bottom of the tank unclips. The coil then screws into the top and you replace everything the same way you took it off.

All things considered, the flavor is actually pretty good. Don’t expect it to compare to drippers, squonkers, or the best subohm coils out there, but it’s still enjoyable. The cloud size is even respectable.

The airflow is noticeably restricted, meaning this is designed for mouth-to-lung style vaping. This is perfect for anyone who is trying to quit smoking, because it mimics the draw you take from a cigarette. It’s also great for when you need to take a discreet draw, because you can take a short draw from this and hold it in your lungs for a few seconds then not blow out any smoke at all.

Because the draws are smaller, you may want to use a liquid with more nicotine than usual. People who use 510 cartridges tend to prefer the CCELL Palm.

Ease of Use

This is extremely easy to use. There is just one button. Click it five times to turn it on or off, then hold it down when you want to take a draw. There is a micro USB port for charging, and you can fill the tank by just removing the mouthpiece.

When it comes time to change the coil, make sure your tank is empty, remove it from the base, then open up the bottom. The coils screw into place at the top of the tank. The battery is accessed by twisting off the cap.

I think the Eleaf iCare 2 is a fantastic introductory mod, and it also makes a great backup for situations where you need extra portability or discretion.

It’s perfectly designed for people quitting smoking. It’s easy to use, it has a high draw resistance so it feels like smoking a cigarette, and the flavor is enjoyable. Plus, you can pick one up for about $15, so it only costs about as much as two packs.

I guess what I like about this is that it creates an extremely low barrier to entry for enjoyable vaping, which is something that the community needs if we want to encourage more people to quit smoking.
